My ESL students prefer the OPD over all the others. Plus, it is much less expensive! There are low-cost matching workbooks available as well. This book is so good, I had to buy one for my own daughter (5 yrs), because it is better than any of the kids illustrated dictionaries out there. She likes to study the animals, foods, medical & dental, cars, tools, musical instruments and holidays.

I am a German living in the US. I like to have the every-day situations described in the book, like going to the hairdresser, different shops and so on. With the pictures it makes it even much easier to learn and remember the words. It is a nice help, especially when you have just settled in.

This book is a big improvement over the blue edition of this book as it includes exercises in conversation. I no longer use the old edition and have upgraded to this one. My clients say it’s much better too!
